The Secret Home of Saturn
The Secret Home of Saturn By BlueAntoid ([email protected]) I was recently exploring the post-war world of EarthBound, because I had nothing better to do (I.E. neglecting my homework.). So, I ended up in Happy Happy Village, for whatever reason, and found nothing very new and exciting. Then, of course, I saw the glaring pink home of a Mr. Saturn standing in the distance. (How could you miss anything with a color that clashed with the town like that?) Figuring I could always count on the nose-man's accent for some minor amusement, I knocked on the door. But, to my suprise, the little guy had left his door unlocked, and I promptly fell through the threshold onto my face.

What I found after picking my jaw up off the floor was a dwelling unlike any other. It didn't have the smooth roundness of a normal Mr. Saturn home, the more logical color scheme of a classic Eagleland house, or even the lurking sense of hallucination as in Magicant. This little Saturn had set off on his (or her, you never can tell) own and made a place for himself far from his home valley. Obviously, he had decorated it himself, for now self-respecting Happy Happyist would ever make such decorating faux pas...
Standing in this place made me ask myself a variety of questions. Why did Mr. Saturn leave the Valley and go off on his own? Since he had so much living room furniture, did he have guests often? How could he close that window? And of course, the ultimate question known to EB-kind - where is the bathroom? I began to realize that these questions would never be answered. It's sad that this little guy is so often overlooked. In our mad hustle to get back home and view the end credits, few players take the time to come back and see this friendly Saturn, and hear his welcoming speech: "Hi, you."
